We had an amazing time on July 10th at the Annual Bash at the Boatyard. The gathering serves as a fundraiser to help support the year ‘round slate of programs and events at The Neighborhood House.
Frogtown Puppeteers to Perform July 15th
The Neighborhood House and Northeast Harbor Library serve as cornerstones of our community the whole year round. To celebrate that important relationship, the two organizations hold a joint celebration each summer, often with performance of some kind. This year, we are thrilled to be welcoming the tremendously talented and wildly creative Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers for a performance of “The Legend of the Banana Kid.”
Bash at the Boatyard
The “Bash at the Boatyard” summer FUNdraiser for The Neighborhood House is scheduled for Thursday, July 10 at 6:00pm. Held at Abel’s Yacht Yard along Somes Sound, all proceeds from the evening go to support the year ‘round slate of programs, events and activities at The Neighborhood House.
Memorial Day Cookout Set for May 26
On Memorial Day The Neighborhood House will be hosting its annual “Community Cookout.” The day will begin with a parade at 10:30am. The parade starts at Mt. Desert Elementary School, works its way to Main Street and wraps up at the Harbor. Following the parade there will be Memorial Day ceremonies organized by the American Legion. When the ceremonies conclude, we’ll fire up the grills and everyone is invited to join us for lunch.
Mommy & Me Playgroup
We’re excited to announce a fun new weekly gathering for Moms and their little ones. Every Thursday at 10:00am Moms and their little ones are invited to gather for this informal playgroup. It’s a great chance for some “mom company” and for babies to make some of their first friends. New faces are always welcomed to come take part!
CAMP REGISTRATION OPEN
Registration for the 2025 Summer Day Camp season is. now open. This year’s programs are designed for children ages three to those entering grade six in the fall. Camp programs meet every Monday thru Friday from 9am to 4pm (a half-day option until 1pm is available for Scamper Campers). Camp will commence on Monday, June 23 and run for eight weeks, wrapping up on Friday, August 15.
Camp Registration Opens March 10
The Neighborhood House’s Summer Day Camp programs will begin accepting registration forms on March 10. Forms will be available beginning March 10 on our day camp web page as well as at our main office beginning at 10:00am on that day.
Sips, Snacks & Socializing!
Need a little help to fill out your “social calendar” in the middle of winter? Join us right here at The Neighborhood House on Thursday, February 5th for our first ever “Sips, Snacks, & Socializing!” The fun gets started at 5:00 and will run until 7:00.
Indoor Soccer
We’re excited to announce a new program that’s a perfect way for kids to stay active during the winter doldrums and even the dreaded “mud season.” Kids are invited to take part in our new indoor soccer program which will begin in late February and run through late March. Whether your child is already an avid soccer player or wants to give the sport a try for the firs time, everyone is welcome to play!
11th Annual Frosty 5K Set for Dec. 7th
The 11th Annual Frosty 5K Walk & Run is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th and will serve as the first event of the day as part of the Northeast Harbor Christmas Festival. The Frosty 5K is open to participants of all levels, whether you’re an avid road racer or just want to get out for some fresh air and a scenic walk. The event is dog-friendly as well, and even includes a “Kids Fun Run.”
TREAT TRUCK TO TRAVERSE TOWN
Why come to The Neighborhood House to trick-or-treat, when The Neighborhood House can come to you? That’s the question we were asking ourselves years ago, and from that the Halloween Treat Truck was born. We’re proud to take mobile trick-or-treating to the next level. Have fun trick-or-treating in your own village, and wait for the Treat Truck to show up for a sweet bonus. Don’t worry— we’ll be stockpiled with candy goodness, so Mom and Dad are welcome to take a sample as well.
The Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers Present: The headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow
The Neighborhood House is thrilled to announce a special performance by the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers on Thursday, October 10. The amazingly talented Torbeck Family will be performing their hysterical show, “The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow” beginning at 4:00pm. This FREE performance is sure to get audience members of all ages into the Halloween spirit along with plenty of laughs.
